Simon Eder

Simon Eder, the only man at a hen party

The „small Eder“, namely Simon, can currently race in the World Cup in top form. Instrumental in that is his father Alfred Eder, who was a successful biathlete himself and even celebrated successes as the coach of Darya Domracheva. The third member of the “Eder clan“ is Simon’s cousin Sandra Flunger. She is a former athlete and currently coach of the Austrian Women’s Biathlon Team.

„If I’m not with the ladies on training course, I’m doing my training mostly with my dad in Hochfilzen or from time to time in Ruhpolding“, tells us Simon Eder.

Yes, you read that right. Simon is the only man of the Austrian women’s team. And he seems to feel good in his role. Nobody shoot the targets as quickly as Simon Eder. Of course we were interested in what is the secret of quick shooter Eder.

Unspectacular he answers us: „I think there is no secret, the processes at the shooting range I certainly can shorten a lot with much dry practice, in addition now I can better deal with pressure situations than some time ago,“ so the Austrian. Next to his skills as a quick shooter, he can currently chip away the targets with an impressive safety and as we now know he has worked very hard for it. No pain, no gain!

“With the victory in Ruhpolding I’ve achieved one of my biggest goals for the season!“

Now the World Championships in Oslo are on the agenda, where he could ever win the World Cup pursuit in 2014. Championships in Norway, where he will compete successfully and 2017 is then for Simon and the whole Austrian National Team Home World Championships in Hochfilzen.

„I have certain chances of top ranking and the goal for both events is a medal!“

Biathlon in home of family Eder, that fits. It is not far-fetched if Simon thinks about the career after career to become a trainer. We asked about his plans for what might come after an active biathlon career he says succinctly. „Honestly I do not really think about it but I would very much like to work as a coach!“

Now there is competing for successful races, for top rankings in the World Cup. Let’s see what the next few weeks bring to the Quick Shooter Simon Eder.
