Adelboden, Engelberg, Wengen, St. Moritz and some other places in Switzerland are nearly known to any winter sport fans. Whether alpine skiing, cross-country skiing or ski jump are almost found permanently in the World Cup calendar of the respective discipline.

But now the project "Biathlon Lenzerheide" can become a home for IBU events.

Lenzerheide, a place in the canton of Grisons, located 1450-1600 meters above sea level and is advertised with the slogan “Sonne hoch 2”. If you have a look at the homepage of Lenzerheide, it is immediately apparent that it is a sport region almost like out of a storybook. From golf to cycling and hiking to alpine skiing and cross-country skiing and biathlon you will find a wide range for everyone.

In addition to the Alpine slalom and cross-country skiing events is now missing only a Biathlon World Cup?

Because of the beautiful mountain scenery that could be a "delicacy" for athletes and fans.

On the Facebook page of Lenzerheide is written, that it gave the green light for a "Nordic House". That’s the starting shot for a proper World Cup location. The Nordic House will be an extensive operation building, which is imperative in order to attain the A-license of the IBU.

We, Biathlon Online visit the arena in summer. In the stadium, a new rollski track was metaled and we also met young talents who have already discovered the optimal training conditions for themselves. Moreover, Lenzerheide can be interesting for training camps by reason of the high altitude. The National Association of Switzerland plans as well to locate a training base with a focus on youth development in Lenzerheide.

The European Cup has already taken place there. When and if the World Cup events come into Switzerland, we will continue to pursue. If there are more news, we are going to inform you.
